Assistance Towing
Boat towing coverage includes on the
water disablement or breakdowns, and light, or soft groundings. Towing
charges begin from the time the assistance vessel leaves the dock, to the
time she returns. The average cost of a tow is approximately $450 and the
average soft ungrounding over $650. Members automatically receive $50 of
Towing Service per incident with their BoatUS Membership. While your basic
Membership will take $50 off your towing bill, it will barely provide for
¼ hour service. We recommend boaters increase to a towing service level
beyond the basic towing that BoatUS provides you.

BoatU.S. members can
avoid the hassle of out of pocket towing costs by selecting one of the
BoatU.S.
Towing
Services higher options. If you are a BoatU.S. member, make sure you
check the service level on your membership card. Anything can occur on the
water, so be certain you have provided for any unforeseen predicament.
Incidents involving hard
groundings, strandings, beachings, pollution, sinking, or sinkings, etc.,
usually constitute marine salvage. These services are covered under
standard marine hull & liability insurance. See
Salvage & Recovery
for more.

One of our vessels
will quickly come to your aid, and tow your boat to her home marina, or a
convenient repair facility. We are always prepared to respond and ready
for the unexpected.

A prompt response to you by one of
our custom vessels is a principle feature of our on water service. We work
diligently in order to provide the highest quality assistance available. A
disablement or grounding condition can be particularly stressful. It is in
our interest to significantly relieve the anguish created by these
predicaments.
